A braid gives slightly on a sudden pull instead of snapping taut, and it keeps its round shape in your hand rather than flattening where you grip it.
At 1.5cm wide it does not drag on a small frame the way a big dog lead does, which is usually why a light dog fights the leash in the first place.
The non slip handle stays in your hand through a wet walk, which is exactly when flat nylon is at its most slippery.
Hales started with one simple idea: gear that feels as good on day 300 as it did on day one. Every harness, collar and leash is tested for comfort and strength, then shipped free across Canada with 30-day easy returns.
We believe great gear isn't just about getting out the door. It's the details you feel in your hand every day, from the braid to the clasp.
