Braided Cotton Rope
Woven cotton stays soft in the hand while holding its round shape under a steady pull.
Secure Metal Clasp
A metal clasp replaces the plastic found on cheaper leads, and it swivels freely so the rope does not twist.
Matches the Cotton Collar
Braided from the same cotton rope as the Handmade Cotton Dog Collar, so the pair reads as a set.

The metal clasp turns freely on its swivel, so the rope does not wind itself into a twist halfway through a walk. The spring inside a cheap snap hook weakens with use, and it fails before anything else on the leash does.
Braided rope stays round under load instead of flattening into a strap. Flat webbing turns slippery the moment it gets wet, which tends to be exactly when a dog decides to lunge.
Cotton does not burn across the palm the way nylon webbing does when a dog takes off without warning. It is braided from the same rope as the Handmade Cotton Dog Collar if you want the pair.
Hales started with one simple idea: gear that feels as good on day 300 as it did on day one. Every harness, collar and leash is tested for comfort and strength, then shipped free across Canada with 30-day easy returns.
We believe great gear isn't just about getting out the door. It's the details you feel in your hand every day, from the braid to the clasp.
